Enfield, NH – “Taste of the Upper Valley,” a feast of food and festivities, will be an “all consuming art” at Enfield Shaker Museum on Friday, November 9, 2007 at 6:30 p.m.
Nearly 15 Upper Valley purveyors of fine food are participating in this event by donating “signature dishes” – appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts to support the Museum’s operations.
Participating restaurants and caterers include: A Taste of Africa, Blood's Seafood Catering, The Breadworks, The Farmers Diner, Gusanoz Mexican Restaurant, The Hanover Inn, Inn at Danbury, Margaritas Mexican Restaurant, Mickey's Roadside Café, Seasons Catering, and Seasons Restaurant & Marketplace. Others in the Upper Valley are joining this group.
A Live Auction will be part of the event. At 6:30 p.m. guests will preview about the items while sipping wine and sampling hors d’oeuvres. At 7:00 p.m. they will help themselves to soups, salads and entrees. Representatives of the restaurants and caterers will be on hand to answer questions. Guests will seat themselves in the Museum’s Great Stone Dwelling spacious and elegant dining room, built in 1831.
Josh Steenburgh will begin the Live Auction at 8:00 p.m. while guests enjoy a variety of desserts.
About 75 items will be auctioned off in an hour, including art and handcrafted items made by professional artists and artisans from the Upper Valley. Overnight stays, gift certificates, tickets to events, a local cruise and gourmet picnic, Simon Pearce glassware, a Shaker Workshops rocker, a pair of Adirondack chairs, a cherry desk organizer from Pompanoosic Mills, a Japanese dinner for six, items from Taiwan and Peru, gardening services and supplies, are among the donated items.
Guests who wish to stay overnight in the historic Great Stone Dwelling as part of this program may do so by contacting the Museum.
Sybil and Peter Williamson are co-chairing the event. Admission to the event is $50 per person, to support Enfield Shaker Museum, which has a mission to protect, enhance and utilize its historical structures, landscape and cultural heritage.
